Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 06/2026. Provisional data

The number of affiliations to the Social Security General Regime with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 3.2% year over year in June 2026 and stood at 3,294,880 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, affiliations increased in all counties except for two. The highest relative increases were recorded in Aran (7.8%), and in La Noguera and Les Garrigues (5.8% in both cases). Conversely, La Cerdanya (−5.0%) and El Priorat (−2.2%) were the only counties to record decreases. On the other hand, the highest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (37,915 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (10,225) and El Baix Llobregat (8,815), while the most significant decreases in absolute terms were recorded in the counties of La Cerdanya (−300 affiliations) and El Priorat (−35).

The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia increased by 1.8% year over year, reaching 581,840. The counties that recorded the highest increase in relative terms were El Tarragonès (4.2%), El Baix Penedès (3.6%) and El Barcelonès (3.0%), while in absolute numbers they were El Barcelonès (5,380 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (910) and El Tarragonès (665). In contrast, the counties that recorded the most significant decreases in relative terms were El Pla d'Urgell and El Priorat (−1.5% in both cases) and El Pallars Jussà (−1.2%), while in absolute terms they were El Pla d'Urgell (−80 affiliations) and El Priorat (−25).

The number of contribution accounts to the Social Security General Regime in Catalonia increased by 1.2% year over year (2,923 contribution accounts) to 252,481 accounts. The counties leading relative growth were El Lluçanès (3.6%) and El Moianès (2.8%). In absolute numbers, the highest increases were recorded in El Barcelonès (928 accounts), El Vallès Occidental (473 accounts) and El Baix Llobregat (329 accounts). On the other hand, the counties with the largest drops in absolute terms were El Pla d'Urgell and La Segarra (−16 accounts each) and the territory of Aran (−12 accounts).

As of March, the results of these statistics for 2026 are produced using the new Catalan Classification of Economic Activities (CCAE-2025).
