Input-Output Framework for Catalonia. 2021. Symmetric table

Idescat publishes the symmetric table for the Catalan economy 2021, constructed from the information contained in the supply and use tables at basic prices. This publication completes the Input-Output Framework for Catalonia 2021 (MIOC-2021).

These statistics were constructed following the methodological guidelines of the European System of Accounts (ESA 2010) and incorporate the changes adopted in the Benchmark Revision 2024.

The symmetric table of an economy presents the information from the supply and use tables in a rearranged and synthesised way, reflecting the production structures of each of the goods and services in the economy. It is a fundamental statistical and analytical tool for applying the input-output model in the analysis of economic, environmental and productivity impacts of a territory. It is also a very relevant tool for analysing the interrelationships between economic activities and for evaluating the effects of different scenarios or policies.

Idescat disseminates detailed data by origin (Catalonia, the rest of Spain and the rest of the world), as well as production, employment and value added multipliers, the Leontief inverse matrix and other complementary results. All these variables were calculated for 64 homogeneous products defined from the supply and use tables of MIOC-2021.
