The value of exports in Catalonia was 9,086.8 million euros in May 2026, a figure that represents an annual increase of 1.9%. Imports, with a value of 11,381.7 million euros, increased by 15.7%.

As for exports by economic destination, capital goods increased by 9.9% and intermediate goods by 4.9%, while consumer goods decreased by 3.2%. By geographical areas, they increased in America by 4.9%, in the European Union by 4.3%, and in the rest of the world by 36.9%; on the other hand, sales in other European countries and territories (non-EU) decreased by 22.1% and in Asia by 3.5%

By branches of economic activity, the growth in sales of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (117.0%; 214.7 M€), basic metals and metal products (14.8%; 65.1 M€) and machinery and equipment (11.8%; 61.1 M€) stood out. On the other hand, the decrease in sales of food products and beverages (−16.1%; −204.9 M€) stood out.

As for imports by economic destination, those of all goods increased: intermediate goods by 22.3%, capital goods by 8.7% and consumer goods by 6.1%. By geographical areas, purchases in other countries and territories of Europe (non-EU) grew by 28.7%, in America by 21.8%, in Asia by 9.7%, in the European Union by 8.3% and in the rest of the world by 82.8%.

By branches of economic activity, the increase in purchases of mining, extraction and refined petroleum products (188.8%; 986.3 M€) and motor vehicles and other transport equipment (19.7%; 340.4 M€) stood out. On the other hand, the decrease in purchases of food products and beverages (−3.8%; −33.4 M€) stood out.
