Quarterly Accounts. Q2/2026. Advance of the GDP

The gross domestic product of Catalonia in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 3.0% year-over-year, according to the advance estimate. In quarter-over-quarter terms, the rate of change in Catalonia was 0.7%.

The year-over-year rate of change for the second quarter of 2026 was one tenth higher than that of the first quarter (2.9%). The large activity sectors registered positive rates. The services sector recorded a year-over-year rate of 3.7%, three tenths more than that of the first quarter of the year (3.4%); industry reached a year-over-year rate of 1.5%, five tenths more than in the previous quarter (1.0%); and construction registered a rate of change of 3.7%, one point and four tenths lower than that of the last quarter (5.1%). Finally, agriculture recorded a year-over-year change of rate of 0.3%, three points less than the first quarter of the year (3.3%).

The objective of the Quarterly Advance of GDP is to provide information on the evolution of the Catalan economy with the minimum possible delay with respect to the reference quarter. For this reason, the calculation of the main aggregates uses statistical sources that do not cover the full period and normally do not include data for the third month of the quarter.

The advance of the GDP results for the second quarter of 2026 are provisional and will be updated in the next Quarterly Accounts release, scheduled for 14 September.
