Statistics on Hotel Activity. 07/2026

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia decreased by 0.3% year over year in July 2026, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays decreased by 2.0%: of these, those of Catalan travellers increased by 5.3% and travellers from the rest of Spain decreased by 8.8% year over year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 0.3% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from the United Kingdom, France, and Germany show the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (836.6, 821.6 and 467.9 thousand, respectively), with a positive year-over-year variation in Germany (4.1%) and United Kingdom (0.5%) and negative in France (−0.6%).

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Daurada were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (2.3, 2.1 and 1.7 million, respectively) with positve year-over-year variations in Barcelona (0.8%) and Costa Brava (2.5%) and negative in Costa Daurada (−4.6%).

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments increased by 2.5% year over year, with an increase in domestic tourism by 1.1% and a increase in foreign tourism by 3.1%.
