Industrial Production Index. 08/2026

The calendar and seasonally adjusted Industrial Production Index decreased by 4.2% year-over-year in Catalonia in August 2026. In monthly terms, compared to July 2026, the Index decreased by 2.9%.

By economic destination of goods, the sectors that increased in year-over-year terms were capital goods by 11.4%, consumer goods by 4.3% and intermediate goods by 2.4%, while only energy increased by 2.7%. With regard to the industrial products index, which excludes energy, it decreased by 5.9% compared to the same month of the previous year.

By section and branch of activity, the highest year-over-year decreases were recorded in the manufacture of transport material (−24.7%), the manufacture of pharmaceutical products (−14.7%) and in the manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment (−14.4%); in contrast, the most significant increases occurred in the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (9.8%) and in the textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries (5.2%).
