The value of exports in Catalonia stood at 6,782.4 million euros in August 2026, a figure representing a year-over-year increase of 5.0%. Imports, worth 8,447.5 million euros, increased by 5.6%.

Regarding exports by economic destination, intermediate goods increased by 9.7% and consumer goods by 1.7%, while capital goods decreased by 10.9%. By geographical area, sales fell in America (−13.4%) and in Asia (−4.8%); in contrast, they grew in non-EU European countries and territories (17.2%), in the European Union (6.0%) and in the rest of the world (25.8%).

By economic activity branches, the growth in sales of energy products, mining and petroleum refining (129.6%; 191.8 M€) and metallurgy and metal products (14.2%; 42.2 M€) was notable. On the other hand, the decrease in sales of electrical and electronic equipment (−11.9%; −59.3 M€) and food and beverages (−10.9%; −117.3 M€) was notable.

Regarding imports by economic destination of goods, those of all goods increased: capital goods by 16.3%, intermediate goods by 6.9% and consumer goods by 1.7%. By geographical areas, purchases fell in Asia (−2.0%) and in the European Union (−0.9%); in contrast, they grew in America (44.8%), in non-EU European countries and territories (22.6%) and in the rest of the world (24.2%).

By economic activity branches, the increase in purchases of energy products, mining and petroleum refining (44.3%; 246.1 M€) and office machinery, precision and optical instruments (29.5%; 52.2 M€) was notable. On the other hand, the decrease in purchases of food and beverages (−8.0%; −67.6 M€) stood out.
