The Retail Trade Indices are indicators that measure the short term evolution of the activity of companies operating in the retail trade sector.
Idescat prepares the General Retail Trade Index on a monthly basis for both current and fixed prices and calculates the indices of Catalonia for the food industry and the rest of products (disaggregated into personal equipment, household equipment and other goods). These indicators reflect the evolution of one of the most important sectors of the Catalan economy, by means of the turnover variable.
The primary source of information is a continuous monthly survey carried out by the INE.
