This dossier presents the characteristics of the changes in expenditure of Catalan households during 2006-2014, a period marked by the economic recession. The document analyses aspects such as the mean household consumer expenditure and its evolution with regard to the GDP; the variation in the weighting of different groups of expenditures in the Classification of Individual Consumption by Purpose (COICOP/HBS); the trends registered in the physical quantities consumed of certain food products or different energy sources. The dossier includes graphs depicting the influence of different characteristics of household consumer expenditures.
The Statistics on Household Consumer Expenditures is a statistical operation performed annually by Idescat for Catalonia based on the Family Budget Survey (EPF), carried out by the INE.
