Events organised or co-organised by Idescat to promote the dissemination, debate and exchange of knowledge on official statistics and their uses. The aim is to promote dialogue among the different agents linked to statistical information and contribute to enhancing data as a tool for knowledge, research, analysis and decision-making.

  • At the Seminar, the Survey on the Use of Time 2024 was presented, together with a set of analyses of its results from a territorial, temporal, gender and life-cycle perspectives. The value of the Survey for analysing social inequalities and for designing and evaluating public policies was highlighted. .

  • The event addressed Idescat's new experimental statistics in the field of the short-term economic indicators. Several papers were also featured on the input-output tables of Catalonia 2021 focusing on their analysis and comparison with previous editions. In addition, the usefulness of the information from the Business Climate Survey for analysing the Catalan economy was highlighted.

  • Under the theme "The evaluation of public policies and other challenges for official statistics in the coming years", the JECAS 2026 became the main meeting point for the statistical offices of Spain's autonomous communities. Representatives from the National Statistics Institute (INE) and Eurostat took part in the event, along with professionals from the municipal, Catalan and central government administrations, and experts from academia.

  • The event, chaired by the Catalan Minister of Economy and Finance, featured a dialogue between the President of the National Statistics Institute (INE) and the Director of Idescat, and included an address by the President of the Catalan Statistics Council on the relevance of official statistics for the design and evaluation of public policies. The dialogue focused on the main challenges of official statistics and on Idescat's strategic lines in terms of innovation, big data, experimental statistics and institutional collaboration.
