Methodological aspects

The Marriages Statistics provide information on the number and characteristics of the marriages of residents of Catalonia entered into during a given year.

The Marriages Statistics provides annual information on marriages and spouses who take up residence in Catalonia, according to demographic, social and territorial characteristics.

The statistics are compiled based on the data from the registration of marriages in the Civil Register. The data include all marriages that establish their residence in Catalonia, both those registered in the civil registers of Catalonia and those registered in the civil registers of other autonomous communities. In 2011 and previous years, the data refer only to registrations in Catalonia of marriages that established their habitual residence in Catalonia.

Idescat compiles this statistical operation in collaboration with the INE.
