Methodological note

The Spanish National Accounts measure the labour contribution to production thorough the whole of the jobs within an economy.

A job is defined as an explicit or implicit contract between a person and a resident institutional unit in order to perform a job, in exchange for payment for a definite or indefinite period of time.

The variable Jobs differs from the variable Employed population (which is quantified by surveys on economically active population). While the latest exclusively measures people, the first one includes all the jobs occupied by a same person (one, two…). Thus, only if there were no multiple employment, the number of jobs and the number of employed population would be identical.

The variable Total includes jobs held by both wage-earners and self-employed.

The annual estimates of jobs correspond to the 2024 GDP Benchmark Revision. Moreover, the estimates for the last three years (t–1, t–2 and t–3) are provisional; in addition, those for the last two years (t–1 and t–2) are an advance of results basically produced with short-term information, whereas those for year t–3 are produced with structural information.

The annual series of the quarterly GDP 2024 Benchmark Revision, which replace those of the 2019 Benchmark Revision, have been compiled from the updating of statistical sources and estimation methods, within a methodologic framework promoted by Eurostat.
