Organisational structure of Idescat

In accordance with Decree 62/2026, of 28 April, on the organisation and operation of the Statistical Institute of Catalonia, Idescat is structured, reporting to the Director, into three Deputy Directorates General and one Department, which are as follows:

Deputy Directorate General of Statistical Production

It is responsible for compiling the statistics that pertain to Idescat, technically coordinating the annual statistical action programmes, promoting, designing and coordinating statistical registers, drafting the standards that must govern official statistics. It also provides statistical technical assistance and meets the demands of research and public policy evaluation.

It is organised into the following functional departments:

• Department of Accounts.
• Department of Economic Statistics.
• Department of Demographic and Social Statistics.
• Department of the Datalab Office.

Deputy Directorate General of Information and Communication

It is responsible for promoting and guaranteeing the maximum dissemination of statistical results and ensuring they are accessible, compiling synthesis products, developing and managing the Integrated Statistical Information System and managing the systems and technological resources required for the collection, compilation, dissemination and communication of statistical data. It also handles linguistic and publishing services.

It is organised into the following functional departments:

• Department of Communication.
• Department of Digital Services.
• Department of Data Engineering.

Deputy Directorate General of Administration and General Services

It is responsible for supervising and coordinating the economic and budgetary management and human resources policies. It also directs the legal services and those related to information security, the administration of the material resources and the managing of the micro-computing services.

It is organised into the following services:

• Organisational Services and Human Resources.
• Economic Management Service.

Department of Planning and Innovation

It is responsible for promoting the update of official statistics in Catalonia through its strategic planning. It also handles methodological innovation processes related to statistical production and dissemination. This includes, among others, promoting and developing experimental statistics, in order to expand and improve the relevance and effectiveness of the Statistical System of Catalonia, and meeting the information needs of the institutional environment.
