Statistics on Hotel Activity. 04/2023

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 17.2% year-over-year in April 2023, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Domestic tourism overnight stays increased by 6.7%: of these, Catalan travellers increased by 19.0% and travellers from the rest of Spain decreased by 6.9% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 23.1% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from France, United States and United Kingdom presented the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (624.3, 296.8 and 295.0 thousand, respectively), and registered positive year-over-year variations of 17.6%, 54.5% and 24.0%, respectively.

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Brava and Costa Barcelona were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (2.0 million, 976.9 thousand and 760.8 thousand, respectively) and registered positive year-over-year variations of 8.7%, 25.5% and 25.5%, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments grew by 17.3% year-over-year, with an increase in both domestic and foreign tourism by 5.6% and 26.4%, respectively.
