Industrial Production Index. 05/2023

The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days decreased by 0.7% year-over-year in Catalonia in May 2023. By large industrial sectors, energy decreased by 7.8% and intermediate goods by 5.7%, while capital goods increased by 7.6% and consumer goods by 1.0%.

In the same period, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) increased by 0.1% compared to the same month of the previous year, while the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) decreased by 0.7%. By large industrial sectors, energy decreased by 7.8% and intermediate goods by 5.7%, while capital goods increased by 7.6% and consumer goods by 1.0%.

Finally, by industrial divisions the most significant decreases were registered in paper, graphic arts and recorded media industries (−18.8%) and chemical industries (−9.6%), while manufacture of transport material increased by 25.9%.
