Exports decreased by a year-over-year 4.8% and imports decreased by 18.5% in Catalonia in September 2023.

By economic destination, exports of all goods decreased: capital goods by 13.2%, intermediate goods by 7.0% and consumer goods by 0.5%. By geographical areas, the decreases in sales to North America (−25.9%), Central and South America (−8.1%) and the European Union (−5.9%) stood out; on the other hand, the increase in sales to other countries of Europe (25.7%) stood out.

On the other hand, by economic destination, imports of all goods decreased: intermediate goods by 21.1%, consumer goods by 14.9% and capital goods by 11.5%. By geographical areas, the increase in purchases from North America (23.8%) stood out; in contrast, the decreases in purchases from the European Union (−8.3%), other countries of Europe (−22.9%), the rest of the world (−32.4%) and Central and South America (−37.7%) and stood out.
