Statistics on Hotel Activity. 11/2023

The number of overnight stays in hotel establishments in Catalonia increased by 8.2% year-over-year in November 2023, according to the Hotel Occupancy Survey. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 1.0% year-over-year, of these, Catalan travellers increased by 4,9%, while travellers from the rest of Spain decreased by 3.1% year-over-year. Foreign tourism overnight stays increased by 11.5% year-over-year.

By country of origin, tourists from the United States, France and the United Kingdom presented the highest figure in overnight stays in absolute terms (248.6, 228.1 and 153.3.9 thousand, respectively). The United Kingdom and the United States registered positive year-over year variations of 38.3% and 19.1%, respectively, while France decreased by 5.8%.

By tourism brands, Barcelona, Costa Barcelona and Costa Brava were the locations that registered the highest number of overnight stays in absolute terms (1.7 million, 385.0 and 261.5 thousand, respectively) and registered positive year-over-year variations of 9.1%, 6.0% and 1.7%, respectively.

On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in hotel establishments grew by 11.7% year-over-year, with a growth in foreign tourism by 15.9% and by 5.3% in domestic tourism.
