Industrial Price Index. 12/2023 and year 2023. Provisional data

The industrial products price index (which does not include energy) decreased by 0.2% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in December 2023.

During the same period the Industrial Price Index (which includes energy) fell by 4.4% compared with the same month of the previous year. By large industrial sectors, energy prices decreased by 19.3% and those of intermediate goods by 7.1%, while prices of consumer goods increased by 5.1% and those of capital goods by 2.9%.

On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−10.2%) and in chemical industries (−9.0%). By contrast, prices increased in manufacture of beverages (13.1%) and in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (5.8%).

In 2023, industrial products price index (which does not include energy), in annual average terms, increased by 2.1% in comparison with the previous year, according to provisional data.

By large industrial sectors, energy prices decreased by 16.2% and those of intermediate goods by 4.3%, while prices of consumer goods increased by 8.1% and those of capital goods by 2.8%. By sections and divisions of the CCAE-2009, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−13.0%) and in chemical industries (−8.9%). By contrast, prices increased in manufacture of beverages (13.1%) and in manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products (11.0%).
