Industrial Production Index. 01/2024
The Industrial Production Index adjusted by working days (base=100) increased by 4.3% year-over-year in Catalonia in January 2024. By large industrial sectors, all of them increased: capital goods (8.6%), consumer goods (5.2%), energy (2.8%) and intermediate goods (1.9%).
In the same period, the Industrial Products Index (which does not include energy and is not adjusted by working days) increased by 8.3% compared to the same month of the previous year and the Industrial Production Index (which includes energy) increased by 7.7%. By large industrial sectors, all of them increased: capital goods (13.1%), consumer goods (9.1%), intermediate goods (4.7%) and energy (3.4%) .
Moreover, by industrial divisions the most significant increases were registered in manufacture of transport material (30.2%) and electrical, electronic and optical materials and equipment (26.5%); on the other hand, textile, clothing, leather and footwear industries (−6.9%) and manufacture of machinery and mechanical equipment (−6.5%) decreased.
With the publication of the data for January 2024 based on 2021, Idescat complies with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of the European Commission on short-term statistics, which establishes a change of basis in 2021. The linked sets of the indexes based on 2021 have been published since January 2002.
