Statistics on Salaried Employment and Self-Employment according to Social Security Affiliations. 03/2024. Provisional data

The number of affiliations to the General Social Security Scheme with location of the contribution account in Catalonia increased by 3.6% year-over-year in March 2024 and stood at 3,094,055 affiliations, according to provisional data. By counties, those with the highest relative increases were El Pallars Jussà (31.4%), El Baix Penedès (26.7%) and El Solsonès (16.0%). On the other hand, El Moianès (−11.9%) and La Segarra (−1.0%) they are the only counties that have recorded decreases. The largest increases in absolute terms were recorded in El Barcelonès (29,930 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (20,350 affiliations) and El Baix Llobregat (9,720 affiliations), while El Moianès (−345 affiliations) and La Segarra (−100 affiliations) recorded the losses of affiliations. It should be taken into account that the variation rates are influenced by administrative changes made in the last quarter of 2023 to the contribution accounts that affect the Public Administration and Education sectors and especially in the counties of El Baix Penedès and El Pallars Jussà; moreover, these changes are in addition to the territorial changes resulting from the creation of El Lluçanès and the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà, which affects the counties of El Solsonès and La Segarra.

The number of self-employed workers carrying out economic activities in Catalonia rose by 1.4% year-over-year to 562,560 affiliations. The counties that have recorded the greatest increase in relative terms are El Solsonès (12.1%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), La Selva (4.0%) and Aran (3.6%). In absolute numbers, the growth was led by El Barcelonès (3,470 affiliations), El Vallès Occidental (515 affiliations), La Selva (480 affiliations) and El Maresme (450 affiliations). On the other hand, La Segarra (−9.2%, affected by the change of county designation of Biosca and Torà), L' Alta Ribagorça (−4.0%) and Osona (−4.0%, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès) are the counties with the largest relative decreases and Osona (−535 affiliations), La Segarra (−185 affiliations), El Bages and El Segrià (both −125) have done so in absolute terms.

The number of contribution accounts to the General Social Security Scheme in Catalonia increased by 1.2% year-over-year (2,845 contribution accounts) to 247,599 accounts. The counties that have led the growth in relative numbers are La Cerdanya (7.0%), L'Alta Ribagorça (5.1%) and El Priorat (4.7%). In absolute numbers, El Barcelonès (1,030 contribution accounts), L'Alt Empordà (240 accounts) and El Baix Llobregat (238 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the greatest growth. On the other hand, Osona (−167 contribution accounts, affected by the creation of El Lluçanès), El Bages (−41 accounts) and El Vallès Oriental (−39 accounts) are the counties that have recorded the largest decreases in absolute terms.
