Survey on the Use of ICT and e-Commerce in Companies. 2024-2025
The 26.9% of Catalan companies with 10 or more employed persons sold sales via e-commerce in 2024. This figure represents a decrease of 4.9 percentage points compared to the previous year (31.8%). By type of sales channel, 47.6% of the e-commerce sales were made via the company's website or mobile application and digital platforms, and 52.4% via EDI or similar messages.
In terms of the intensity of use of ICT in the first quarter of 2025, 99.6% of companies with 10 or more employed persons had an internet connection. Out of these, 88.9% had a website, 75.2% use some type of social media, 54.6% used paid cloud computing services and 24.0% used artificial intelligence technologies. 45.0% of companies with internet access do data analytics with their own employed persons and 17.9% through an external company or organization.
In relation to the environment, 27.1% of companies with 10 or more employed persons used ICT systems or solutions to reduce energy consumption and 21.6% used them to reduce the use of materials (including consumables) or to promote the use of recycled materials. Furthermore, when ICT equipment became useful, companies took several actions: 76.4% put it in a container for collecting/recycling electronic devices, 47.9% kept it in the company (to use it as spare parts, for example) and 23.3% sold it, donated it or returned it to a leasing company. In the first quarter of 2025, 42.9% of companies with 10 or more employed persons allowed them to telework. Out of these companies, 33.9% of staff teleworked regularly, with an average of 2.1 days per week.

In relation to companies with less than 10 employed persons, 84.7% had access to the internet, and of these 36.0% had a website, 39.5% used some type of social media, 17.5% used paid cloud computing services and 15.0% used artificial intelligence technologies.

These statistics are published annually and provide information on the main indicators about the use of technology by Catalan companies. The results for ICT equipment and use refer to the first quarter of 2025, while the information on e-commerce refers to 2024.
