Labour market statistics on people with disabilities. 2024
The employment rate of persons with a legally recognised disability increased by 2.3 points in 2024 to 32.8% (compared with 74.1% for people without disabilities). The number of employed persons with disabilities was 112,900, an increase of 9.8% compared to 2023, while the number of employed persons without disabilities increased by 2.0%.
The unemployment rate for people with disabilities was 16.4%, 1.4 points lower than in 2023 and 7.7 points higher than the rate of people without disabilities. The number of unemployed people with disabilities was 22,100, representing a decrease of 0.9% compared to 2023, while the number of unemployed people without disabilities fell by 2.7%.
The activity rate of people with disabilities was 39.3% in Catalonia in 2024, 2.2 points higher than in 2023. By contrast, the activity rate of the population without disabilities was 81.2%. The number of active people with disabilities increased by 8.0% compared to 2023, while the number of active people without disabilities rose by 1.5%.
In relation to the characteristics of employment, 90.0% of the employed population aged 16 to 64 with disabilities were employees (2.4 points lower than in 2023) and of these, 88.4% had an indefinite contract. In addition, 81.1% of the employed population with disabilities worked full time.
By sex, the presence of men was higher in the active population with disabilities (55.0%) than in the active population without disabilities (53.0%). However, the activity rate of people with disabilities (38.3% for women and 40.1% for men) showed a smaller difference between the sexes (1.8 points) than that observed among people without disabilities, where the difference was 8.6 points.
By age, there was a higher proportion of active people of the 45–64 age group among the people with disabilities (64.4%) than among active people without disabilities (46.1%).
