Annual Economic Accounts for Catalonia. 2025
In 2025, the gross domestic product (GDP) of Catalonia reached 334,765 million euros, representing an annual growth in volume of 2.7%. This variation is the same as the advance GDP data published on 9 February.
From the perspective of demand, domestic demand grew by 4.1% in 2025, one tenth lower than the previous year (4.2%). The growth is due to the increase in the three components: household consumption expenditure (3.9%), final consumption expenditure by government (3.1%) and gross capital formation (6.0%).
Regarding external trade, total exports increased by 4.2%, mainly due to the increase in exports of goods and services (4.5%). As for foreign tourism consumption, it grew by 2.3%. On the other hand, total imports increased by 5.2% compared to the previous year, due to the increase in the national residents consumption abroad (14.3%) and the increase in imports of goods and services (4.7%).
From the perspective of supply, all branches of activity registered positive growth, with the agriculture sector (9.4%) and construction (5.4%) standing out. On the other hand, activities in the services sector registered an annual rate of 3.1% and industry grew by 1.5%.
Idescat presents the annual estimates of the main economic aggregates for the period 2000−2025. GDP information from the supply perspective is disaggregated by 44 branches of activity for the period 2000−2023 and by 10 branches in 2024 and 2025. These latest estimates are mainly made with short-term information.
Compared to the previous edition, there have been two changes following the publication of the Input-Output Framework for Catalonia 2021 (MIOC 2021). First, the incorporation of estimates for some demand variables (final consumption expenditure by government, change in stock, and exports and imports of goods and services) modifies the estimates for these variables prior to the reference year of MIOC 2021, affecting the retrospective series 2000–2020. Second, variables related to the labour market have been expanded, with data on employed persons and hours worked incorporated for the first time.
