The estimates of Quarterly Accounts, which incorporate the full short-term economic information for the second quarter of 2026, confirm the year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter rates of change compared to the Quarterly Advance of GDP, published on 31 July 2026.

From the demand side, domestic demand was the component contributing most to GDP growth, with a year-over-year variation of 2.5%. The components of domestic demand that increased were household consumption (3.4%) and final consumption expenditure by government (3.2%); in contrast, gross capital formation decreased (−0.5%).

Regarding the external sector, total exports abroad showed a year-over-year variation of 1.9%. By component, exports of goods and services recorded a variation of 0.4% and consumption by non-residents grew by 10.2%. As for imports, they showed a year-over-year rate of 0.7%, as a result of the evolution of imports of goods and services (0.6%) and national residents’ consumption abroad (2.9%).

From the supply side, all sectors showed positive activity developments. Services and construction stood out, with growth of 3.8% and 3.7%, respectively, followed by industry and agriculture with 1.3% and 0.3%, respectively.

The Quarterly Accounts are consistent with the corresponding Annual Economic Accounts for Catalonia. Quarterly series should be considered provisional, as the necessary coherence between annual and quarterly estimates requires quarterly estimates to be modified, at least as long as the annual estimates are provisional.
