The Large Store Sales Index is an indicator that measures the monthly evolution of the sales volume of non-specialised retail trade establishments with a sales surface area equal to or greater than 2,500 square metres, located in Catalonia.
Idescat calculates the general indeces, that for the food industry and that for the rest of products, at current prices and constant prices, based on its own information provided by all the non-specialised large stores in Catalonia.
Furthermore, it publishes the calendar adjusted and the seasonally and calendar adjusted Large Store Sales Index, which allows rates of change to be calculated between months of homogeneous duration and composition and without seasonal fluctuations. These adjustments are applied to all the series offered.
