The Turnover Index on Industry is a short-term indicator whose objective is to reflect the evolution of the activity of industrial Catalan companies based on their invoicing. As an index value, it measures the joint evolution of the quantities, quality and prices.
Idescat prepares the Turnover Index on Industry on a monthly basis. It also calculates the index of non-energy industrial products for Catalonia and Spain, which it disaggregates by large industrial sectors (defined in Annex II of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of 30 July 2020 laying down technical specifications and arrangements pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics).
The primary source of information is a continuous monthly survey carried out by the INE.
