IVNI Industry Turnover Index

The Turnover Index on Industry is a short-term indicator whose objective is to reflect the evolution of the activity of industrial Catalan companies based on their invoicing. As an index value, it measures the joint evolution of the quantities, quality and prices.

Idescat prepares this Index monthly and also calculates the industry turnover index for industrial products excluding energy for Catalonia, disaggregated by large industrial sectors, according to Annex II of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of 30 July 2020establishing technical specifications and arrangements pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/2152 of the European Parliament and of the Council on European business statistics). These large industrial sectors are consumer goods, capital goods and intermediate goods.

Furthermore, Idescat publishes the Turnover Index on Industry calendar adjusted and seasonally and calendar adjusted, which allows for the calculation of rates of change between months of homogeneous duration and composition and without seasonal fluctuations. The adjustment is carried out for all the series offered.

The primary source of information is the continuous monthly survey of the Turnover Indices on Industry statistics, carried out by the INE.
