Mapes de les agrupacions censals de Catalunya (AC)

This publication contains the territorial boundaries (geometries) of the census tract groups for the years 2014-2024 in Shapefile format.
Each census tract group is made up of a set of whole contiguous census tracts with similar socioeconomic characteristics. Census tract groups are territorial units with a balanced population of 9,000 inhabitants on average (ranging between 5,000 and 20,000 inhabitants in size).
The number and definition of the census tract groups are the same for the period 2014-2023, although census tracts vary each year due to additions, removals and changes involving census tracts’ territorial boundaries. Consequently, the territorial boundaries of the census tract groups and their geometries also vary.
In relation with previous versions, the territorial nomenclature of census tract groups 2024 features some variations in their correspondence with the municipalities and census tracts they group together:
- The creation of the county of El Lluçanès in mid-2023 has meant that the Osona West census tract group has become the Lluçanès census tract group. Furthermore, to maintain the criterion that census tract groups are infracounty units, five of the thirteen municipalities that were in the Osona West census tract group are no longer part of it and instead have been added to other nearby census tract groups:
- The change of county designation of Biosca and Torà has meant that these two municipalities have been removed from the Segarra census tract group and added to the Solsonès census tract group.
— Sant Agustí de Lluçanès and Sant Boi de Lluçanès have been added to Osona North.
— Muntanyola and Santa Eulàlia de Riuprimer have been added to Osona Centre-South and South-East.
— Sant Bartomeu del Grau has been added to Osona Centre-North.
The nomenclature for the census tract groups is Idescat's own creation for the production and dissemination of the Small Area Socioeconomic Index (IST) and can be applied to the statistical data sources that have information disaggregated by census tract. In addition to the IST, Idescat publishes by census tract groups the population of the Municipal Population Register classified by sex, the Population Census, the Statistics on Degree of Urbanisation and the Educational Attainment Statistics.
