Large Store Sales Index. 12/2023 and year 2023

The Large Store Sales Index in Catalonia at current prices increased by 2.1% year-over-year in December 2023, and by 44.3% compared with November 2023. By product group, the year-over-year increase is due to the increase in food sales (4.2%), as sales of other products decreased (−0.1%).

At constant prices (i.e. eliminating the effect of prices), the index registered a year-over-year variation of 0.2%. Sales of food products decreased by 2.1%, while sales of other products increased by 3.2%.

In 2023, the annual average of the Large Store Sales Index at current prices in Catalonia increased by 4.8% compared to the previous year. The performance of both types of products was positive, although the increase in food products (6.6%) was higher than that of the rest of the products (2.9%).
