Industrial Price Index. 01/2024

The industrial products price index (base 2021=100) (which does not include energy) decreased by 0.9% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in January 2024.

During the same period the industrial price index (which includes energy) dropped by 3.7% compared with the same month of the previous year. By large industrial sectors, energy prices decreased by 14.4% and those of intermediate goods by 7.1%, while prices of consumer goods and those of capital goods both increased by 3.2%.

Moreover, by industrial divisions, the most significant decreases in prices were registered in metallurgy and manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (−14.4%) and in Industries of paper products (−8.2%). By contrast, prices increased in manufacture of other transport equipment (4.7%) and in manufacture of beverages (4.1%).

With the publication of the data for January 2024 based on 2021, Idescat complies with Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1197 of the European Commission on short-term statistics, which establishes a change of basis in 2021. The linked sets of the indexes based on 2021 have been published since January 2002.
