Maps for census tract groups of Catalonia 2024

Idescat publishes the update for the geometries of the territorial nomenclature for census tract groups for the year 2024, in Shapefile format.

Each census tract group is made up of a set of whole contiguous census tracts, with similar socioeconomic characteristics. Census tract groups are territorial units with a balanced population, 9,000 inhabitants on average (ranging between 5,000 and 20,000 inhabitants in size).

The nomenclature for the census tract groups is an Idescat's own creation for the production and dissemination of the Small Area Socioeconomic Index (IST) and it can be applied to the statistical data sources that have information disaggregated by census tract. In addition to the IST, Idescat publishes by census tract groups the population of the Municipal Population Register classified by sex, the Population and Housing Census, the Statistics on Degree of Urbanisation and the Educational Attainment Statistics.
