The Industrial Products Price Index (base 2015=100) increased by 1.0% in year-over-year terms in Catalonia in February 2018. For large industrial sectors, all product prices increased: intermediate goods (1.7%), equipment goods (0.7%) and consumer goods (0.6%). On the other hand, by industrial divisions, the most significant increases in prices were registered in the metallurgy; manufacture of basic iron, steel and ferroalloy products (7.3%), in the manufacture of beverages (4.6%), and in the industries of paper products (2.4%); while the highest decreases were registered in repair and installation of machinery and equipment (−0.8%) and in the food products industries (−0.4%). During the same period the industrial price index increased a 1,6% compared to the same month of the previous year.
The industrial price index is a trend indicator which measures the monthly evolution of the prices of products manufactured by industry in their initial stage of commercialization. Upon the basis of the data provided by the INE, Idescat performs a tabulation for large industrial sectors.
