Exports grew 0.8% year-on-year in Catalonia in March 2018. By economic destination, exports increased for consumer goods by a 9.8%, while capital and intermediate goods decreased (−14.5% and −3.5%, respectively). On the other hand, imports fell by 4.1% year-on-year, as a result of the decrease in imports of all type of goods: those of capital goods a −7.6%, of consumer goods a −4.5% and of intermediate goods a −3.5%.
The main goal of these statistics is to present the trade flows of exports and imports of goods between Catalonia and abroad a monthly basis. The administrative information source with which Idescat works is the territorial operations file of the Customs and Special Taxes Department of the State Tax Administration Agency. The file in question contains the most relevant information obtained from Single Administrative Document (SAD) and Intrastat declaration data.
