The total expenditure made by foreign tourists whose principal destination was Catalonia stood at 2,780 million euro for August 2018, which represented a year-over-year increase of 4.7%.
By country of habitual residence, France, United Kingdom and Russia stood out with a total expenditure of 551, 338 and 209 million euros and year-over-year increases of 7.4%, 19.9% and 3.1%, respectively. United States with a expenditure of 188 million euros showed a year-over-year decrease of 6.9%.
The average daily expenditure per person was 160 euros, a figure that represented a year-over-year increase of 17.4%. The main statistical items correspond to expenditure on lodging (624 million euros) and on international transport (554 million euros).
The statistics on Foreign Tourism Expenditure (TURDEST) for Catalonia provides monthly and annual information on expenditure, average expenditure per person and the average daily expenditure per person for foreign tourists whose primary destination of their trip is Catalonia.
