The number of overnight stays in rural tourism establishments in Catalonia increased by 10.9% year-over-year in the fourth quarter of 2018, according to provisional data from the Rural tourism accommodation occupancy survey.
By country of origin, the number of overnight stays of domestic tourists grew a 12.9% (Catalan tourism increased a 12.7% and that proceeding from the rest of the state a 17.9%), and concerning foreign tourism, it decreased a 12.3%.
On the other hand, the number of travellers registered in rural tourism establishments grew a 17.3% year-over-year.
In the year 2018, the overnight stays in rural tourism establishments increased by 5.2% in Catalonia, according to provisional data from the Rural Tourism Accommodation Occupancy Survey.
By origin of travellers, overnight stays of domestic tourists rose by 7.4%: 7.9% for overnights stays from Catalonia tourists and 1.0% for tourists from the rest of Spain; those of foreign tourists fell by 2.0% with respect to the previous year.
On the other hand, there was an increase of 10.5% in the number of travellers in comparison to 2017.
