Population Estimates. 2019. Advance. Provisional data

The population of Catalonia on 1 January 2019 amounted to 7,600,267 inhabitants, according to provisional data of Population Estimates produced by Idescat. This figure represents an annual increase of 56,442 inhabitants (0.7%) compared to 2018, thus confirming the growth tendency begun in 2015.

By territory, El Camp de Tarragona, El Penedès and the Girona Counties is where the population increases the most in relative terms, with a growth of 0.9%. Les Terres de l'Ebre is the only territory that loses population (269 inhabitants), with a decrease of 0.2%.

The Advanced results of Population Estimates are available for Catalonia, its provinces and all 8 areas of the Territorial Plan. The results are provisional and will remain valid until next December, when Idescat replaces them by the definitive postcensal estimates.
