Maps for census tract groups of Catalonia 2015-2018

Idescat publishes the maps for the new territorial nomenclature for census tract groups for the years 2015 to 2018, in Shapefile format.

Each census tract group is made up of a set of whole contiguous census tracts, with similar socioeconomic characteristics. Census tract groups are territorial units with a balanced population, 9,000 inhabitants on average (ranging between 5,000 and 20,000 inhabitants in size).

The nomenclature for the census tract groups is Idescat's own creation for the production and dissemination of the Small Socioeconomic Area Index (IST) and can be applied to the statistical data sources that have information disaggregated by census tract. In addition to the IST, Idescat has published the population of the Municipal Population Register, classified by sex, according to census tract group.
